Setting up automatic Discord roles

Add our bot to your Discord server, map stats to roles, and it keeps everyone's roles up to date on its own - granting a role when a hunter qualifies and taking it back when they no longer do.

Automatic roles are a Legend perk. Linking accounts and Discord Linked Roles stay free; only this bot-driven assignment needs a subscription. Your rules are saved either way and resume the moment you re-subscribe.

Before you start

  • An active Legend subscription.
  • Your own Discord account linked - link it before you add the bot, or the setup can't tell it's you.
  • The Manage Server permission on the Discord server you're adding it to.

Your members each need to link too - the bot skips anyone who hasn't. The easiest way to ask them to connect Discord and The Bayou Ledger is to post this link in your server:

That one page handles the whole thing on its own - it signs a hunter in with Steam if they aren't already, sends them to Discord to connect, and brings them back to a confirmation. Nobody has to go hunting through their account settings.

Add the bot

  1. Open your Discord servers. You can also get there from Account → Customize → Discord server bot → Manage your servers.
  2. Press Add to your server.
  3. Pick the server from Add to server and press Continue, then Authorize. The bot asks for Manage Roles - that is the permission it needs to hand roles out.

You land back on the site with the server listed.

Put the bot's role above the roles it assigns

Discord only lets a bot manage roles that sit below its own. This is the single most common reason a rule seems to do nothing.

In Server Settings → Roles, drag The Bayou Ledger above every role you want it to assign.

If a role doesn't show up in the dropdown in the next step, this is why.

Add your conditions

Press Manage roles next to the server, then fill in the Add condition row:

  1. Stat - MMR, KDA, Prestige or Lifetime bounty.
  2. Operator - >, < or =.
  3. Value - the number to compare against.
  4. Role - the Discord role to grant. Start typing to search.

Press Add condition and it appears in the Rules list.

Combining conditions

Add a second condition with the same role to narrow it further. Conditions on one role are combined with and - a hunter gets the role only while all of them hold.

That's how you build a band. KDA > 1.00 and KDA < 1.50 on one role gives you everyone between 1.0 and 1.5:

Press the small × on a condition to remove it. A role disappears from the list when its last condition is gone.

Values, exactly

  • MMR - a whole number, the in-game MMR.
  • KDA - a ratio, written the normal way: 1.50. (Discord's own Linked Roles want this multiplied by 100 - here you don't.)
  • Prestige - a whole number.
  • Lifetime bounty - a whole number.

There is no "greater than or equal to". Everything compared is a whole number, so shift the value by one: "3000 and up" is MMR > 2999.

How fast it applies

A role is granted while a member's stats satisfy all of its conditions and removed when they stop. Changes apply within about ten minutes - the bot sweeps the server on a schedule rather than reacting instantly.

Good to know

  • Only the hunter who added the bot can configure it. Anyone else opening the page sees "You don't manage this server". If that person needs to hand over, they can add the bot again themselves.
  • Members still have to link. The bot can only act on hunters who linked their Discord account; everyone else is skipped.
  • Hidden profiles are skipped too. A hunter who hides their profile in Hunt has no stats to compare.
  • If the bot is removed the server shows Bot removed and assignment stops. Add it again to resume - your rules are still there.
